John Stephen De Dios
Ballet Teacher
Born in Bacolod City, Philippines, John began his training at the age of 16. He trained in basic ballet and contemporary under the mentorship of Lydia
M. Gaston and Dwight Rodrigazo. In 2010, he studied Mass Communication at Far Eastern University in the Philippines and joined the school's dance troupe. In 2012, he joined Ballet Manila School and was promoted to Company Artist in 2014.
As an artist of Ballet Manila, under the directorship of Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, John was given many opportunities to perform many famous classical ballets such as Don Quixote, Giselle, Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet. John performed principal roles such as Benvolio from Paul Vasterling's Romeo and Juliet, Ali from Le Corsaire, Peasant pas de deux from Giselle, Solor from La Bayadere and Basilio from Don Quixote. He also had the opportunity to work with guest choreographers such as Augustus “Bam” Damian, Jonathan Watkins, Martin Lawrence, Paul Vasterling and Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa.
John has completed the Composition and Movement Analysis Program, and Dance Improvisation under World Dance Alliance Philippines.
John joined Singapore Ballet as an Artist in January 2020 and performed full length classics such as Nutcracker, Coppelia, Don Quixote and Romeo and Juliet by Choo San Goh. He has also done works and masterpieces by international choreographers like Tim Rushton, Edward Liang, Kinsun Chan, and Choo San Goh.
